NV5's Morristown, NJ office has an opportunity for a Senior Highway Engineer with 8-15 years of experience and a desire to work in a team environment.  This position is for a licensed engineer capable of overseeing projects and supervising engineers on projects for NJDOT, NJTPA and/or NJ municipalities and counties.

Responsibilities

 

Our multi-disciplined design team approach will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to pursue a path, which aligns with their particular strengths and interests as their career advances.

 

We currently have a wealth of interesting projects, from local road resurfacing to large-scale highway improvements, intersection improvements, drainage and stormwater improvements, pedestrian/ADA accommodation designs, as well as several specialized projects involving amphibian roadway crossing infrastructure, design of pedestrian/bicycle paths and raised boardwalks through environmentally sensitive areas. This position provides an excellent opportunity for career growth.

 

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Working alongside Senior Project Managers and Supervising Engineers in delivering transportation and civil related projects, including providing technical oversight to engineering staff on project tasks such as;
  • Roadway/highway design plan development from conceptual design to final contract plans. Typical tasks include horizontal and vertical layout, typical sections, profiles, grading, cross sections, maintenance and protection of traffic and construction plan preparation. Preparation of quantity calculations, cost estimates, and supplementary specification support.
  • Technical reports and studies, including Concept Development and Final Design Reports.
  • Development of project management skills pertaining to project execution, budgets and schedules.
  • Participate in professional organizations and technical societies.

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (BSCE)
  • 8-15 years of experience (roadway/highway engineering)
  • Experience with MicroStation InRoads and OpenRoads
  • Knowledge of NJDOT and/or NJTPA standards and requirements
  • NJ PE License

 

The pay range for this position is $120,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
